Custom BioMems microfluidic and mems micro-pump

Developments in the Life Sciences and Biotechnologies are driven by the growing number of substances that have to be synthesised or analysed ever-more rapidly. But today, only parts of the process chain are miniaturised and leading lab-automation and instrumentation equipment innovators expect that processes like fluid handling, sample preparation, cell manipulation, as well as biomolecular analysis, will be soon done at the chip level more efficiently and precisely.

Tronics already works with bio-instrumentation and lab-automation equipment manufacturers. Combining their biological and systems know-how with our MEMS micromachining, packaging and testing expertise, we turn their microfluidic actuators, lab-on-chip and BioMEMS concepts into products. We develop and implement technologies and packaging to industrialize their custom components, which include:

  • Components for precise fluid handling and delivery
  • Chips for cell manipulation and analysis
  • Cantilever-based components for biomolecular detection

Tronics is involved in the Microbuilder EC project through which we set-up a silicon/glass technology dedicated to microfluidics and lab-on-chip applications.
